1. Rose Schlewitz, Oregon Association, opened the meeting at 4:05 pm.

3. Minutes of July 20, 2008 meeting were accepted as corrected. Lane should be Kane.
4. NW Region Advisory Board was reviewed.
a. Question was asked what are the responsibilities of this board?
The main responsibilities of this board is to advise on dispersing the NW Region
funds, and advise local organizing committee on NW Region Meet.
b. The region committee agreed with the suggestion that the board be made up of association masters chair or a representative from each NW Region Association.
Members are:

Marie VerMeer, Oregon Jack Ward, Snake River
Jim Puckett, Oregon Lamar Ewell, Utah

5. Games Committee for NW Region Championships. Needs relates considerably to the
site of our regional championship and the local organizing committee. Tabled. Topic
will be on the agenda for the Athletes Meeting in Portland.
6. For 2009 the Northwest Region is allocated $2000
2009 Budget:
$ 500 Region Meet Host Club -PMTC
$1000 Awards for 2010
$100 Coordinator’s Expenses
$200 Web Site Management
$500 additional funds for t&f clinic within Northwest Region
George will check with Mac Wilkins about a clinic on Friday June 26th prior to
NW Regionals.
7. New Awards for 2010 - tabled
George will present options of new medals at the Athletes Meeting in Portland.
8. Northwest Region Coordinator – Rose agreed to resume position. Position
confirmed by MTF Chair Gary Snyder.
9. Additional Agenda Items
a. 2008 Budget
Remaining $400 will be dispersed at $200 for championship patches and $200
to Web Site Management.
b. Web Site
Jim Schlewitz will maintain region web site.
George was asked to get information about meets on web site.
2009 T&F Schedule
New Item
It was brought up that Racewalk Event 2008 was used for Concordia College
racewalkers NAIA qualifying. Need to involve Marie VerMeer and Bev McCall in this.

Location of meet for Regionals 2010 and future place for Regional Championships?
Carole suggested Regional Championships be held with Oregon Association Masters Championships. She was concerned about low attendance at Seattle Regionals this year.
Discussion - 2008 schedule of meets and participation impacted by
1. Eugene 08 Olympic Trials
2. Hayward Classic not held until August 2-3 just one week before Nationals
3. National were in Spokane
George did not want to lose a meet by combining our regional championships with an existing meet e.g. Hayward Classic, Portland Masters Classic, Seattle Masters Classic.
Place location of future regionals on the agenda for the Athletes Meeting in Portland.
